The In-Person Return: Upskilling and New Features
Like many companies, Trimble faced uncertainty when holding its first large event after the pandemic-induced virtual pivot in 2020. Fortunately, even though the world had changed significantly since the last in-person Dimensions in 2018, the company had already been using RainFocus and had a solid foundation in place. In what they described as the “big learning year,” the team unlocked new capabilities, such as an ERC program, and upskilled its power users within registration, exhibitor management, and other modules. From an improved user experience in the filterable content catalog to smoothing out speaker management tasks, the Trimble team enhanced its operations across the RainFocus platform — with positive results.
“We pull a lot of data from RainFocus on attendance. It’s so easy to go into past events and pull the data, and when we look at the results and future session capacity, it informs how we move forward for future events.”

Building on Victories Through Repeatability
Dimensions 2022 proved to be a resounding success. A large uptick in on-site registrations signified growing buzz as the event began. The company also saw a dramatic increase in sponsorship numbers, and strong post-event sponsor survey results. Attendees found the networking opportunities impactful and fun, and 97% said they found the event valuable. The Trimble team has carried these wins into planning for the 2023 event, easily copying successful workflows within RainFocus for valuable time savings. Detailed reporting also yields planning benefits. For example, by pulling detailed session data, including sign-ups and attendance, the team had a head start on capacity planning and call for speakers. The data would also prove useful for plotting out potential schedules and session types, and investigating potential content access segmentation.
“The best part about creating our 2023 event is that we can copy over workflows and make improvements. We can go back to the work we did in 2022 — and even in 2018 — and make it even better.”
